Director, Oncology Market Access

SUMMARY

The Head of Market Access will lead the efforts to ensure rapid access to the Adaptimmune pipeline of products, starting with the upcoming first commercial launch. He/she will be an influential member of the commercial leadership team and will be responsible for collaborating across the organization to develop and lead a comprehensive reimbursement, pricing and access strategy and to build out the Market Access and Reimbursement function.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Develop and implement market access strategies and launch plans in the US and EU to ensure broad market access and reimbursement by commercial and government payers. Oversee the development of strong product value propositions, marketing strategies, reimbursement dossiers, and other necessary tactics to demonstrate the value of Adaptimmune’s innovative therapies.
  • Provide price, reimbursement, and market access inputs into forecasts for Adaptimmune’s portfolio products.
  • In partnership with Commercial, R&D, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs teams, develop and translate payer insights into meaningful evidence generation plans to support a strong reimbursement file.
  • In partnership with Commercial and Medical Affairs, develop and execute an account strategy for best-in-class launch success, including building/managing/mentoring a field-based Market Access team
  • Create an evidence-based plan, informed by market research and advisory boards, to identify core customer needs, with the goal of optimizing patient access to Adaptimmune’s therapies.
  • Establish reimbursement and affordability programs for patients and providers to optimize appropriate and timely access to Adaptimmune’s products. This includes establishment of an Access Support hub.
  • Co-ordinate with other internal functions to develop health economic analyses, economic dossiers, value messaging, pricing analysis and other materials as needed for field teams.
  • Establish relationships with stakeholders including payers, distributors, and providers to ensure appropriate access of our products.
  • Establish Key Performance metrics, build dashboards, examine performance and recommend actions to resolve barriers to drug access.
  • Oversee training of cross-functional teams to educate on key market access initiatives, messaging and materials.
  • Develop a value-anchored price setting strategy, including net price strategy for different payer archetypes from launch through product life cycle.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and other functions to establish consistent business rules and policies focused on market access activities, including price reporting, to ensure all Market Access activities comply with regulatory guidelines, and corporate policies and procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of pricing and/or market access experience.
  • Strong understanding of Oncology payer environment in major countries, including coverage and reimbursement, pricing, value drivers, health technologies assessment and policy.
  • Cross-functional leadership and/or similar experiences including field sales, sales management, finance, regulatory and other relevant business functions.
  • Demonstrated track record of Oncology pricing and market access experience.
  • Ability to think creatively, problem-solve and work across a multi-functional, complex therapy area in a rapidly changing, competitive environment.
