Analytical Scientist - 12 month contract

Primary Responsibility

As an analytical scientist you will be involved in bridging the gap between cutting edge research and clinical trials through the development, optimisation, qualification and use of high-quality bio-assays (such as ELISA, cytotoxicity assays, phenotypic and functional flow cytometric assays) aimed at characterising both our lentivirus and transduced T cell products specific for various cancer antigens. You will also be responsible for running of already developed routine analytical assays with the aim of supporting the company’s research and development activities, e.g. measuring the activity of Lentivirus or the T cell products.

The post holder will additionally be responsible for the interpretation of scientific results under the supervision of a Principal Scientist or Senior Scientist and communication of these results in group/project meetings and discussions as well as through production of formal reports. The post holder is expected to contribute to the preparation of all laboratory associated documentations (study plans, protocols and reports) to a high standard.

Current Hepatitis B vaccination is required for this position


Key Responsibilities

  1. Development, optimisation and qualification of high-quality bio-assays (35%)
  2. Supporting R&D activities by running established analytical assays (25%)
  3. Data analysis/record keeping and preparation of analytical protocols (including SOPs), plans and reports (30%)
  4. Performing method transfer to CROs/CMOs (5%)
  5. Participate in routine laboratory maintenance (5%)


Qualifications & Experience


  • Degree in Life Sciences and/or relevant laboratory experience
  • Ability to work independently on routine experiments with limited supervision.
  • Ability to learn and develop in order to work independently on routine experiments within a reasonable time frame.


  • Additional post-graduate scientific experience or qualifications, such as an MSc. or PhD
  • Previous experience working within a GxP environment
  • Previous experience working with viruses and T cells


Skills & Competencies


  • Previous tissue culture experience
  • Good working knowledge of flow cytometry
  • High attention to details and meticulous record keeping to meet regulatory needs
  • Proven well developed report writing capability
  • Basic experimental design skills (use of controls, etc.) and ability to follow protocols.
  • Knowledge and skills to use of standard laboratory equipment (such as pipettes, centrifuges).
  • Excellent numeracy and English language skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Computer literate and ability to familiarise with different IT systems
  • Strong team player but with the ability to work independently as well
