Senior Manufacturing Accountant

Primary Responsibility

The General Ledger team is the group responsible for entity level financial reporting for the company. The group is tasked with monthly close accounting, SOX compliance, internal control monitoring and adherence, producing analysis for movements and significant accounts, and continuous improvement projects.
Our exciting fast- developing company requires a dynamic accounting professional to support the company’s corporate finance function. Our company is seeking a finance professional with general ledger and cost accounting experience to support the accounting function with accurate month end accounting, internal control compliance, and internal reporting for our general ledger and cost/inventory accounting functions. This position reports to the US Financial Controller and is part of the general ledger team responsible for timely month end workings and auditor queries. This is a new role for the organization with key responsibilities being preparation of journal entries to balance sheet and P&L, preparation of account reconciliations, determining monthly inventory movements and COGS, working with manufacturing and FP&A teams for proper calculation of standard costs, COGS, and inventory reserves, and working on departmental and cross-functional projects for GL team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures the integrity of accounting information by preparing, recording, verifying, and entering transactions and account reconciliations. Reconciling inventory sub-ledgers to Balance Sheet
  • Development of monthly COGS, Other COGS, and inventory related JE’s along with development of standard costs for product in various phases of inventory
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, expense, & COGS entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Ensure timely completion of month end tasks and reconciliations Participate in Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual close. Assist with audit inquiries.
  • Identify and recommend changes to processes to meet department’s close expectation goals.
  • Perform SOX internal controls for period end, inventory, costing, and COGS.
Qualifications & Experience

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 7-10  years accounting experience with industry experience
  • Experience working on SOX-compliant environment
  • Previous experience with cost accounting and inventory knowledge

Desirable
  • Biotech experience with commercial product accounting
  • Proactive with good problem solving skills
  • Ability to work with multiple teams within the organization
  • Motivated to learn and develop
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • CPA certification or MBA

  • Hybrid role - ability to commute to the Navy Yard in Philadelphia 2 day a week.
